Makiko Imato
Makiko Imato (M.Ost) is a highly skilled registered Osteopath and Massage Therapist with extensive experience in both Japan and the UK.
Her career began in 2000 where she worked at some of the most prestigious hotels and spas in Japan. During this time, she mastered a variety of massage techniques and beauty treatments, continuously honing her craft and exploring new methods. It was here that deep fascination with the musculoskeletal system was developed. She witnessed firsthand the impact that joint and muscle pain had on people’s lives and well-being, which sparked her desire to gain a deeper understanding of the body’s mechanics.
Driven to receive the best education, she moved to London and studied at the British School of Osteopathy. Throughout her studies, she embraced the holistic nature of Osteopathy, realising the importance of not only treating symptoms but also preventing pain and injury.
As Makiko’s expertise developed, she became deeply committed to promoting long-term well-being through preventative care. Building on her foundation in beauty therapy, she developed a strong interest in body aesthetics, which eventually led to a key insight: “True beauty is a product of a body functioning healthily from within.”
She believes that when the body is properly aligned, it operates at its highest potential, not only enhancing overall health but also radiating genuine beauty. For Makiko, optimal posture and alignment are not merely cosmetic concerns; they are fundamental to the body’s efficiency and natural movement.
This philosophy inspired the development of her signature treatment, “Alignment Massage,” a distinctive approach that integrates Osteopathy with advanced massage techniques. This innovative method has received widespread acclaim during her career, effectively helping clients enhance posture, function, and overall body alignment. The success of this approach has established it as a highly sought-after treatment for individuals who value both health and aesthetic well-being.
